Originalmente llamada de Operación Overcast, la Operación Paperclip fue el nombre de código de la operación realizada por el Servicio de Inteligencia Militar de los Estados Unidos para extraer científicos especializados en cohetes (V-1, V-2), eletro-gravitação (Discos Voadores/OVNIs), armas químicas, y medicina de la Alemania después del colapso del gobierno nacional socialista después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Esos científicos y sus familias fueron secretamente llevados para los Estados Unidos, sin el conocimiento o aprobación del Departamento de Estado norteamericano. Ninguno de ellos tenía qualificação para un visto de entrada en los EUA, pues todos habían servido la causa nazi durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
Además de la Operación Paperclip, hube una operación aún más secreta para capturar secretos nucleares alemanes, equipamiento y personal, la llamada Operación Alsos.
